ProdromeNeuro™ and ProdromeGlia™ are both dietary supplements that are synthetically pure, vegan plasmalogen precursors. The difference between the two lies in their fatty acid composition and targeted area of effect within the body.

ProdromeNeuro™ is an omega-3 (DHA) plasmalogen precursor that targets gray matter in the brain. DHA is extracted and purified from plant-based triglycerides and attached to a plasmalogen precursor backbone. This process makes ProdromeNeuro™ bioidentical to naturally occurring DHA plasmalogen precursors; however, there are no natural vegetarian sources that offer sufficient purity or concentration for practical use. DHA plasmalogens are found in high concentrations in the membranes of gray matter and are necessary for neuron and neuromuscular synaptic function. They are also involved in reverse cholesterol transport and maintaining low brain amyloid levels.

 ProdromeGlia™ is an omega-9 (oleic acid) plasmalogen precursor that targets white matter in the brain. Like ProdromeNeuro™, it is bioidentical to naturally occurring oleic acid plasmalogen precursors but cannot be practically derived from natural vegetarian sources. The oleic acid used to make ProdromeGlia™ is extracted and purified from plant-based triglycerides. White matter is largely made up of myelin, which requires high levels of omega-9 plasmalogens to function.

Other plasmalogen products available are typically derived from animal sources and contain very low concentrations of plasmalogens. For example, one product provides just 0.5mg of plasmalogen per capsule (30mg per bottle), while another contains 4mg per capsule (240mg per bottle). In contrast, Prodrome Plasmalogen products offers a significantly higher concentration, with 900mg of plasmalogens per serving and 27,000mg per bottle—delivering more in a single serving than other products offer in an entire bottle.

Additionally, our ProdromeNeuro™ and ProdromeGlia™ products are plasmalogen precursors, specifically formulated by Dr. Goodenowe for optimal absorption and bioavailability. You can take ProdromeNeuro and ProdromeGlia at any time of day. They can be taken with or without food. They can be taken with any other supplements.

However, many prefer taking ProdromeNeuro in the morning and ProdromeGlia in the evening.

The ProdromeNeuro soft gels and ProdromeGlia softgels, as well as ProdromeGlia plasmalogen liquid oil can be stored at room temperature, in a cool, dry place both before and after opening.

Store ProdromeNeuro plasmalogen liquid oil in the refrigerator when you receive it and after opening to maintain freshness. ProdromeNeuro can be kept at room temperature, but we recommend to store in the fridge for freshness. All other supplements can be stored in a cool, dry place.

ProdromeNeuro plasmalogen oil has a shelf life of 18 months prior to opening (once opened it is best to use within 30 days). ProdromeGlia plasmalogen oil has a shelf life of 36 months (once opened it is best to use within 90 days). The ProdromeNeuro and ProdromeGlia softgels have a shelf life of 24 months.

All of the oils have a manufacturing date printed on the bottle and this should not be confused with an expiration date.
