Anesthesiology / Cosmetic Surgery / Functional Medicine
Bio
Dr. Michael Carter is a traditionally trained medical physician. He graduated from medical school in 1988 from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Emory University in Atlanta in 1992. Also, in 1992, he became Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
Dr. Carter had an illustrious career in Anesthesia for over 16 years, as well as a successful cosmetic surgery practice. However, due to his own health concerns, after having glaucoma for over 30 years and experiencing declining visual acuity, he decided to embark upon more nontraditional, alternative teachings. He became a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), and the Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG).
His new journey was focused on finding the root cause of his glaucoma. He identified a myriad of underlying issues, including adrenal fatigue, high inflammation, subacute infections, mycotoxins, heavy metals, food sensitivities to gluten and dairy, stress, etc., and he started diligently working on all those facets to bring them into optimal ranges.
Dr. Carter was successful at stabilizing his eyesight decline. So, he decided to dedicate his life to helping other people address underlying issues and reverse diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, thyroid issues, gut issues, etc.
In 2010, Dr. Carter co-founded Real Health Clinics with Dr. Thomas Lewis, PhD, and subsequently became Corporate Medical Director. Real Health Clinics is a site dedicated to treating Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Thomas Lewis wrote the first book, "The End of Alzheimer's," along with his colleague, Dr. Clement Trempe, who was an ophthalmologist at Harvard. They made the connection between Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, dementia and eye diseases.
Dr. Lewis and Dr. Carter also have a site called Health Revival Partners, which addresses all chronic diseases. Dr. Carter became Chief Medical Officer of Health Revival Partners in 2011.
Dr. Carter has the distinction of being one of the first 300 doctors trained by Dr. Dale Bredesen, who wrote the second series of books entitled "The End of Alzheimer's." Dr. Bredesen is a UCLA-trained neurologist and the founding CEO of the Buck Institute on Aging. Dr. Bredesen has since trained 2000+ practitioners worldwide to follow his protocol for Alzheimer's. Dr. Carter has worked with neurodegenerative patients since 2010 and has seen great improvements in numerous patients.
Dr. Carter also has the distinction of being one of the initial FLCCC doctors working on the front lines to help those with acute Covid infections, long Covid, and vaccine injuries. Using his knowledge base from the FLCCC and the American Society of Physicians and Surgeons (ASPS) along with his own experience, he has been able to help a multitude of those individuals as well.
Dr. Carter's greatest strength lies in his empathy for patients as he has gone through his own health challenges. He is also an avid reader and attends numerous conferences to keep up to date on the latest advances and protocols for a variety of health issues.
